Our team at Kids In Kenya is delighted to announce that on 10 April 2013 our Usonga Community Library was officially opened.  Tom and Meg Gervay of The Rotary Club of Sydney Cove were in attendance as representatives of Kids In Kenya.  It was a grand affair with around 500 guests participating. The Chief, members of the Rotary Club of Siaya and also the Army, children and villagers were there in force.

Allied Pickford and the Kids in Kenya team are hosting a premium corporate event at Sydney's prestigious Arthouse Hotel.  

Join us for an evening of networking, delicious food, wine and fun and help make a difference to the lives of the children of Usonga in western Kenya.
One of our items for auction on the evening is a "Radical Race Car" experience - have the drive of your life!  

Funds raised will be used for a shipping a container of educational materials and more books for our Library in Usonga. Seating is limited so book early.

The Kids in Kenya Library construction is complete!

Shelving for books and some additional interior fitout is still in its final stages. The 20 volunteer team have all returned home to Sydney and Melbourne – all but Paule’s little family, i.e Barbs, Glen and Claudia and Paule and Sally remain. After almost 2 months in Kenya we are fast arriving at our departure date for South Africa. We all feel a little sad leaving the village of Usonga and all the beautiful children, BUT we will return next year with another strong volunteer team to continue the Kids in Kenya work. 
Plans:  Solar lighting in the library and an outdoor covered area for studying.

We also intend to have erected traditional mud brick huts on the library land for volunteers to use. These will have all the comforts of home (almost) and it be a fun way to spend time as a volunteer with Kids In Kenya!

Stay tuned for our 2013 itinerary which will include 10 to 14 days in Usonga, western Kenya (details of project and school activities coming soon) and a trip to the world famous game park of The Masai Mara staying at a truly delightful lodge situated on the Talek River – check “Tipilakwani”
